In 2014, The Cranks CD “Orange” earned a Limelight Magazine’s Album of the Year runner up award and The Cranks were recognized by The New England Music Awards as a winner of the RADAR award for rising artists under 21. After opening the Paramore/Fall Out Boy show on the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion at Meadowbrook ‘s Magic Hat stage that summer, The Cranks got busy on material for their 4th CD release – the new EP, “Cute Hat”. Recorded at Rocking Horse Studio over 8 days in the brutal 2015 New England winter, and produced by New England Music Awards’ Producer of the Year nominee Brian Coombes, this high energy blast of indie PopTernative originals packs the most Cranks punch of the band’s material to date.

With hundreds of shows to their credit, The Cranks (twins Haley and Connor Gowland and Alex Markoski) write, record and perform upbeat, alternative rock with actual voices and real instruments . Haley’s vocals yield comparisons to female-fronted legends like The Pretenders, but their upbeat sound is more influenced by modern alt-rockers like Guster, Kings of Leon, The Strokes and Paramore. They rock, but aren’t angry about it.
